I’ve been trying to read a wider variety of book of late, and when this popped up on Facebook, written by my old school friend Sophie, I decided to give it a go.
The story of Blind Dave Heeley, who lost his sight after being diagnosed with Retinitas Pigmentosa as a child, is an inspiring read. Covering not only how he dealt with losing his sight and getting a guide dog, but also his incredible efforts to raise money for charities close to his heart.
Reading about Dave’s challenges, including running 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days, (becoming the only blind person in history to do so), is motivational stuff – especially with me attempting Tough Mudder in 2 months time. I’d definitely recommend it if you want a book that leaves you feeling amazed and inspired by the end – you won’t be disappointed.
